New South Wales State Election 2007
Technology and Design: XML Schemas, XSLT, XML Integration, .Net, Web Development, Specifications, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
Working with the New South Wales Electoral Commission (NSWEC), eGloo Technologies developed and implemented the Virtual Tally Room (VTR) for the 2007 NSW State Election.
The Virtual Tally Room provided Election results from 6 pm on election night (Saturday, 24 March 2007). Results were available for each electoral district showing candidates’ first preference count, notional distribution of preferences to the candidates selected by the NSWEC, and above the line first preference counts for the Legislative Council groups.
Results were updated by the minute on election night as they were submitted to the Electoral Commission by the Returning Officers, and continued to be updated over the following weeks until all results were finalised.
XML data feeds to the VTR data were available to media outlets from the Electoral Commission via File Transfer Protocol (FTP). The data was converted to an alternative XML format compatible with existing processes managed by the Australian Broadcast Corporation (ABC). Data was also converted to a format compatible with the Tally Room Display Board Application at the Acer Arena in Sydney.
eGloo Technologies has now embarked on XML systems for the NSW Local Goverenment Elections to be held on 27 September 2008.
Final results for the NSW State Election 2007 can be viewed as static HTML files at the New South Wales Electoral Commission website.
