2007 NSW State Election Night ... a Success for eGloo!26 March 2007 The 2007 NSW State Election, held on the 24th March, was a victory for the Labour party and a huge success for eGloo Technologies. The New South Wales Electoral Commission (NSWEC) contracted eGloo to assist in the XML development and integration for their Virtual Tally Room (VTR). The XML developed for the VTR was also used as data feeds to other media outlets, primarily the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). Updates were every 6 minutes - keeping the public, and media outlets, up-to-date on election results as they were being tallied. The VTR experienced approximately 1 million hits over a 5 hour period on the night. This equates to approximately 200,000 hits per hour and 56 hits per second. Ian Brightwell who is the Director Information Technology and CIO for NSWEC said, "The VTR sustained a heavy load, it peaked at 6:00 to 7:00 pm and was about 3 times the load experienced by the VEC last November, it did take us by surprise ... well done to the eGloo team!" Although the real test for eGloo was on election night, the VTR will keep recording results until all districts are finalised. Don Stolee, Managing Director at eGloo said, "After a 12 month concerted effort it was good to see everything come to fruition on the night without a glitch. The eGloo team is to be congratulated on a fantastic effort!" A snapshot of the Virtual Tally Room The NSWEC corporate website can be found at www.elections.nsw.gov.au |
